Health researchers on a winning streak
Clinical researchers carrying out vital work to improve patient care at hospitals in mid and south Essex have won a number of prestigious awards.
Staff in the Research and Development team at the Trust have won several prestigious awards, with the Primary and Community Research team also securing a win at this year’s National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) North Thames Research Awards.
The team have been recognised for their work in developing research for national and international healthcare teams, promoting research opportunities for colleagues and patients and running clinical trials to better understand health trends in patient care.
Tracey Camburn, Lead Research Nurse at the Trust, was awarded Research Nurse of the Year for her excellent leadership skills and dedication to research.
Tracey said: "I was over the moon when I found out I’d won this award. I’ve worked hard to make sure that colleagues are aware of our research service and the work that we do. I’ve helped to develop the service, for example by working with patients in the community, so they can take part in research trials closer to home."
Sophie Harris, Clinical Trials Practitioner, and Nikolett Hunyadvari, Primary Care Clinical Research Practitioner, were jointly awarded the Clinical Trial Practitioner of the Year Award.
The Primary and Community Research team also won in the Primary Care category.
Preeti Sud, Director of Strategy and Innovation, said: "Our Trust is committed to being a research-active organisation, working with staff, patients, partners and NIHR to develop and participate in research studies which contribute to improved care and outcomes for patients. I am immensely proud of the team for the many accolades they have received."
