I have worked in community pharmacy for many years as a counter assistant, dispenser and then a pharmacist I wanted to do more and help in the progression and development of the evolving structure and role of the NHS. Mid and South Essex provided me with the opportunity to help patients.
The team are some of the kindest, friendliest and hard working colleagues I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Always on hand to help trust wide.
I started out as a pre-registration pharmacist right after graduation. With the support I’ve received I’ve been able to complete my pre-registration exam, my post-graduate diploma, my independent prescribing, and more recently my Masters in Advanced Pharmacy Practice.
As a department there is always support and training provided to further yourself through education as well as through research. We all help each other when times are hard, and when times are good too.
I started my journey at Basildon hospital after working for 8 years in community. I joined with my Pharmacy Technician course and wanted to work in the hospital as I knew I would have more opportunities to progress my career.
I have now been here for three years and I have completed my ACT and a medicine management course. I enjoy going out to wards and speaking with patients. I also like that there are plenty of opportunities to learn and progress.
I joined the MSE in 2015 as a Band 2 Pharmacy Assistant in the Technical Services department manufacturing intravenous chemotherapy. After having my children I knew that the NHS was somewhere I wanted to work. I completed my work experience within the pharmacy department whilst at school and the positive experience that I had stayed with me for years afterwards.
I worked my way up within the team to a band 6 role and have most recently been successful in gaining a band 7 role with the Pharmacy IT project team.
Mid and South Essex pharmacy has given me the opportunity to progress in my career. I joined as a band 3 with no prior pharmacy qualification but with the support from the team, completed many courses and progressed to a band 6 role. I encourage anyone to join the Mid and South Essex pharmacy team.
