VAT reimbursement
If you previously worked for the Trust, and have since left, but had a Salary Sacrifice vehicle with us, please read the following.
In late 2020, HM Revenue and Customs announced their intention to repeal VAT (treatment of transactions) Order 1992. This followed a legal case, and subsequent appeal, which established that there is no requirement for the payment of VAT on salary sacrifice vehicles.
The Trust, along with the other providers, has been working through the implications of this decision and, it is our intention to make a compensation payment to reimburse those who had a salary sacrifice vehicle (Tusker and NHS Fleet Solutions).
Claims are valid from 2016 for vehicles obtained via NHS Fleet Solutions, and 2012 from Tusker, until December 2019.
Am I eligible?
Please note: If you are currently employed by the Trust and are eligible for reimbursement, you will receive an email before the end of December with further advice.
If you previously worked for Mid and South Essex Foundation Trust predecessor Trusts, Basildon and Thurrock General Hospitals Foundation Trust or Southend University Foundation Trust, and have since left, you are eligible for reimbursement by application. Please follow the instructions below.
Start the reimbursement process
Please email mse.salarysacrificecars@nhs.net with the subject heading ‘Salary Sacrifice VAT Refund Application’ and include your full name, your previous assignment number at the Trust (this is viewable on old wage slips either paper or found on MyESR) and vehicle registration. Additionally, please include your current home address, account number and sort code (this inbox is secure and your details will not be used for any other purposes).
Once this is complete, a member of the team will be in touch.
Reimbursement payments are beginning in February 2023 – important – Due to the number of payments, schemes and length of the eligibility period, some arrears may be paid out later than February.
