Southend charity shop celebrates 10 years of tills ringing for hospital
A decade of donations is being celebrated at a Westcliff charity shop that has raised over £200,000 for Southend Hospital.
The Southend Hospital Charitable Foundation charity shop in Hamlet Court Road, which has been supported by staff and volunteers for the last 10 years, celebrated the milestone with a mini-in shop party.
Those who work and volunteer in the store all received a certificate to thank them for their dedication over the years.
Lucy Thomas-Clayton, director of charities and voluntary services at the Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust, said: “It’s wonderful to recognise the staff and volunteers of the much-loved Hamlet Court Road shop. It was the first of our charity shops to open and our volunteers, present and past, have taken their time and energy to make it what it is today. All raising vital funds to help benefit patients and staff at Southend Hospital.
“New donations are always needed, so pop in and browse or donate when you next have the chance. Who knows what you might discover, and help us make the next decade just as successful.”
As well as the Westcliff charity shop, there are also sister shops in both Leigh and Hadleigh. If you are interested in being a volunteer in any of the charity shops, please email mse.msevolunteers@nhs.net.
