There are two ways in which you can access private healthcare at Brook Suite – Nash Basildon. You can be referred by your General Practitioner to a private consultant directly who will then liaise with our dedicated business team to arrange the appropriate treatment, procedure or diagnostic for you. Alternatively, you can contact the Brook Suite directly on 01268 394206 (for admissions) or 01268 394213 (for outpatient appointments) and our Business team will support you to choose the right Consultant for your personal needs.
Once you have been referred, our business team will liaise with you to arrange the most suitable appointment time. You will be provided with a letter in advance, explaining the full details of your appointment including time, date, location and if there is anything required of you in advance or on the day. The terms and conditions of your appointment will also be within this letter. If you’re attending for a first appointment with us, we will also enclose your registration form which needs to be completed and either returned in advance of your appointment or brought with you on the day.
When you arrive, please notify the receptionist of your appointment details and the location stated on your letter, they will show you where you need to be. There will be a receptionist at the outpatients department who will ask you to confirm your appointment details and complete an identity check.
Insured patients should always ensure; prior to their attendance, that your treatment and hospital stay is covered within your insurance policy and that you know exactly what is covered. For the majority of cases, insured patient will not incur a personal fee for their private healthcare however, should you require or choose to have a treatment, procedure or diagnostic that is not covered under your current insurance policy, you will liable to pay the additional sum for the areas that are not covered.
If you are an inpatient and have an outstanding balance for your private healthcare, this must be settled before you are discharged.
Self-funded patients will receive a quote for their planned treatment (including diagnostics and hospital stay) ahead of their formal booking. This quote is valid for bookings confirmed within 1 month of the quote date. A booking confirmation after this date will be subject to an up-to-date quote.
We ask that all self-funded patient settle their private healthcare invoice no later than 5 days prior to their admission date.
Visiting hours on Brook Suite ward are daily between the hours of 2pm and 7pm.
If you are looking to undergo a procedure, we do many other specialities. Please contact us direct to discuss your requirements: 01268 394206 or 01268 394213 - brooksuitebusinessteam@btuh.nhs.uk

Yes, we do. We would advocate that if you have particular dietary requirements, you please notify us in advance of your admission that we can ensure we have appropriate refreshments available for you during your stay.
This is at the discretion of the ward sister/nurse-in-charge or Service Manager and is normally only possible in special circumstances - if the patient needs language help, for example.
Self-funded patients will receive an invoice from the hospital which covers hospital fees only. Separately to this, the consultant will invoice for his/her fees.
For patients who are self-funding, you will have been provided with a quote for your care package in advance of your admission which will have been pre-paid. Should your care deviate from the pre-agreed care package, you may be required to settle an addition invoice or you may be entitled to a refund.
No, this is a strictly no-smoking site and in line with EU Law, no smoking of any kind is permitted inside the building.

Yes, each room is equipped with a safe and a lockable set of drawers for each patient.
Sadly, we cannot allow relatives into procedural areas however, your relatives are more than welcome to wait in the room if you are having a short procedure. If you are having a procedure that will take some time or require an ITU stay afterwards then we would ask that visitors leave and return when their relative is back on the ward.
Yes, you’re more than welcome to bring your electrical items with you however, as we are a hospital there are strict regulations with regards to plugs and sockets. Any plug that is not PAT tested cannot be used within the hospital therefore, we would advocate that you bring your device fully charged and ask a relative to take it home and charge it if it runs out of battery during your stay.
Yes, your care is led by your dedicated consultant and our Brook Suite nursing team. Your consultant will come to see you at least once a day during the ward round.

Your length of stay will depend on the procedure that you are having. We would suggest that you liaise with your consultant who will be able to advise.
