Children’s Orthopaedic services

We run weekly specialist services at all three of our main hospital sites which are dedicated to the treatment and management of:

  • Congenital Talipes Equinovarus (CTEV), also known as talipes or clubfoot.
  • Development Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH).

Our teams consist of a variety of healthcare professionals including physiotherapists, doctors, clinical nurse specialists, sonographers, plaster technicians and therapy and healthcare assistants.

Congenital Talipes Equinovarus (CTEV) service

Congenital Talipes Equinovarus (CTEV), also known as clubfoot or talipes, is treated by using the Ponseti method which is recognised as the gold standard of treatment for CTEV worldwide.

Our teams have had specialist training and are vastly experience in treating CTEV using the Ponseti method.

You can find our more information about CTEV and the Ponseti method at:

Developmental Dysplasia of Hip (DDH) service

Developmental Dysplasia of Hip (DDH) is a condition where one or both baby’s hip joint doesn’t develop properly which can make the joint loose or unstable.

Early detection and treatment within a Pavlik Harness can help the hip develop normally and minimise the risk of future problems with pain, walking or movement.

We run weekly clinics to treat babies with hip problems and to support parents during their child’s time in the harness.
