Zero tolerance to abuse

We have a zero tolerance policy for verbal or physical abuse towards our colleagues.

Please treat our staff with the same respect you would expect to receive.

Visiting times and arrangements

Paediatric emergency departments (ED)

Our paediatric EDs are very busy at the moment so we are asking that only one parent or guardian stays with their child during their time in the department.

Wards

All wards have different opening times, you can see these on Our ward information page. If a time isn't listed or for visiting outside of hours, please speak with the nurse in charge.

Visiting restrictions on our wards

To protect our patients, we have closed visitor access to some of our wards and departments. Please check with the ward or department staff before you visit a patient, as areas may be closed to visiting at short notice.

At Broomfield Hospital no visiting is permitted in our Emergency Department (ED), Acute Medical Unit (AMU) and medical wards, except for patients receiving end of life care.

Please contact the ward/department before you visit to check it is open for visiting.

Infection prevention guidance for visitors

To protect our patients, please do not visit our wards if you have cold or flu-like symptoms, or have had diarrhoea and/or vomiting in the last 48 hours.

We're seeing a high number of patients with Norovirus and/or Influenza (flu). To help us reduce and control the risk of infection please:
  • avoid visiting our hospitals unless absolutely necessary
  • do not visit if you are unwell, including with cold- or flu-like symptoms or if you have had diarrhoea and/or vomiting in the last two days
  • do not bring food you have prepared at home
  • do not bring young children into ward areas
