Special interests: Mr Lorenzi is a Consultant General and Upper GI Surgeon at Broomfield Hospital. He qualified with honors and completed his surgical training at the prestigious University of Siena in Italy, where he also achieved his Ph.D. in Oncology and Genetics in collaboration with the University of Oxford. Mr Lorenzi obtained training in high volume renowned Centres in USA (Cleveland Clinic in Weston, Florida), in France (Istitut Paoli-Calmettes in Marseille), and in UK (Oxford Radcliffe University Hospitals, St. James’ University Hospital in Leeds, The Royal Marsden Hospital and Imperial College in London) before moving to Chelmsford in 2014. Mr Lorenzi publishes regularly in peer reviewed surgical papers, has been an invited speaker at national and international meetings and gives teaching sessions on minimally invasive and laparoscopic surgery at Imperial College in London and Anglia Ruskin University in Essex. Mr Lorenzi has a particular interest in minimally invasive surgery including robotic surgery for gastrointestinal conditions, as well as day case surgery and gastrointestinal endoscopy. At Broomfield Hospital, he performs regularly surgery for oesophageal and gastric cancers, as well as benign gastrointestinal conditions such as gallstones, gastro-oesophageal reflux and hernias and he is involved in the care of patients with general surgery emergencies.
