HIV services

HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) is a virus that damages the cells in your immune system and weakens your ability to fight everyday infections and disease.

HIV services for Southend and Basildon Hospital and surrounding areas (Rochford, Castlepoint, Thurrock) are provided by the Number 22 Clinic (based at Southend Hospital).

HIV services for Chelmsford and surrounding areas (District of Braintree, including Witham and Halstead, District of Maldon and Chelmsford ) are provided by the Coelho Clinic (based at Broomfield Hospital).

How we can help you

  • Give advice, treatment and support for all people living with HIV and their families/carers.
  • Outpatient clinics based at Southend, Orsett and Broomfield Hospitals.
  • Home visits for vulnerable patients.
  • Care to pregnant women living with HIV.
  • Care for children living with HIV (seen at Southend Hospital).
  • HIV care for prisoners (HMP Chelmsford).
  • HIV care for asylum seekers (Wethersfield Immigration centre).
