Arty youngsters have brightened up a maternity unit for mums-to-be.

New art for Broomfield maternity

Broomfield Hospital’s maternity team asked new mums for feedback after they’d given birth – and one suggestion was that they’d like the Chelmsford unit to look a little less clinical and more welcoming.

Pupils at Chelmer Valley High School rose to the challenge and designed banners welcoming people to the maternity department in different languages.

Lead midwife Amanda Dixon went along to meet the art club members and to collect the new signage. “We’re so grateful – this artwork will make the unit feel more welcoming and we know it will be appreciated by the women coming in to have their babies with us.”
