Baby bereavement suite gets a boost from Essex Police

Essex Police cheque presentation

The baby bereavement suite at Southend Hospital has received a donation of over £6,600 from new police graduates.

The new recruits at Essex Police have presented Mid and South Essex Hospitals Charity with the donation at their passing out parade.

Four classes of graduates decided to raise money to help benefit the bereavement suite, a welcoming room for parents experiencing baby loss. It .is designed to make it a more comfortable and tranquil space for those families that are spending precious moments with their baby.

Yvonne Carter, fundraising co-ordinator for the charity, attended the parade at Police Headquarters, in Chelmsford, where she collected the cheque.

She said: “Our thanks go out to these new police graduates, and everyone involved with the fundraising events. Their time and effort is hugely appreciated and the money raised will help make such a difference to help families who have suffered a baby loss.”

The money was raised by holding bingo nights, charity breakfasts and lunches and local shops collected donations.
