Baby unit staff charity challenge for World Prematurity Day
More than 50 dedicated staff from Broomfield Hospital’s Neonatal unit are stepping up to a 100km challenge to help buy more equipment and improve care for its youngest and most vulnerable patients.
Inspired by World Prematurity Day (Sunday 17 November), staff from all areas of the unit, including clerical, consultants, therapists, neonatal specialists and nursery nurses have come together. The goal, to raise money by walking thousands of kilometres by the end of the month.
Clare Kidd, a Neonatal Nursery Nurse taking part in the fundraising challenge, said: “We wanted to do something that would not only bring us together as a team but also make a real difference for the babies and families we care for.
“This challenge symbolises the long journey many of our patients go through, and we’re determined to complete it for them.”
Funds raised through the 100km challenge will be used to improve facilities for families, ensuring that parents who spend extended periods in the hospital have access to comfortable spaces and support.
