Covid-19 response helps win top prize at the British Muslim Awards
An Essex medical director has taken home a top honour at the British Muslim Awards 2022.
Dr Tayyab Haider MBE, the medical director at Basildon Hospital, has won the Abbas Khan Services to Medicine Award.
Proud to have won, he said: “It is fantastic to be the recipient of this award from a list of talented award nominees from across the NHS. It is an honour I must share with my colleagues at Basildon Hospital and across the whole Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust for their amazing response to Covid-19. Working together we have, and continue to, achieve great things as a team.
"This recognition is wonderful news and shines a positive light not just on my profession, but also Muslims doing great things for their communities across the UK."
He was one of many professionals and businesses from the British Muslim community who were recognised for their ingenuity and achievements at a ceremony at the Marquee British Muslim Heritage Centre in Manchester.
