Donation set to make a difference to stroke patients
A donation of £1,225 has been made to Southend Hospital’s stroke unit, in memory of a former patient
John Knight, from Westcliff , was admitted to the unit after a stroke in December 2019.
With so many friends and family making donations at John’s funeral, his wife Ann decided she wanted to give the money raised to the stroke unit.
She said: “The unit gave my husband such wonderful care, and because of that we wanted to give something back. I wanted it to come to the hospital through the Westcliff Rotary Club, as John was a member and it was something very close to his heart.”
The cheque was handed over by John’s family and the Rotary Club President to Dr Paul Guyler, from the stroke unit, who helped look after John. He thanked the family for their time and fundraising efforts. The money will go towards equipment to help stroke unit patients.
