Eggs-cellent community kindness brings Easter to patients

Many patients spending time in hospital over the Easter weekend will wake up to a sweet surprise.

It’s all thanks to local residents, businesses and community groups who’ve donated hundreds of chocolate eggs at Basildon, Broomfield and Southend hospitals.

Clair Dade, Fundraising Coordinator for Mid and South Essex Hospitals Charity, said: “We’ve been overwhelmed by the generosity of our local community. Each donation—whether it’s one egg or many—makes a real difference to patients of all ages.

“Many of the eggs will be passed on to our hospital play teams, who do an incredible job of supporting young patients and helping them feel a little more at ease during their stay.”

The Easter eggs are shared across wards and departments to help lift spirits and spread smiles to young people and those who may not receive many visitors over the Easter period.

The charity will continue to accept donations of Easter treats until Thursday 17 April, and those wishing to contribute are encouraged to get in touch first to arrange delivery.
