Entrepreneur education programme takes gold at the HSJ Partnership Awards
A workforce development programme that is helping to transform patient care has won a prestigious national prize.
The NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme (CEP), delivered by Anglia Ruskin in partnership with Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust, has won Best Educational Programme for the NHS at the HSJ Partnership Awards 2024.
The award, which recognises initiatives that improve the knowledge and skills of NHS staff, was presented at a ceremony in London yesterday (21 March).
Judges awarded the top “Gold” prize to the NHS Clinical entrepreneur Programme, recognising how this forward-thinking education initiative transforms healthcare through innovation, by accelerating the introduction of ground-breaking treatments and diagnostics.
The programme has been running since 2016, supporting NHS staff to gain skills and knowledge needed to develop innovative ideas to address the challenges facing healthcare. So far, the programme has supported more than 1,000 people to develop healthcare innovations.
Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust coordinates the national InSites programme, part of the CEP, which supports NHS sites across England to test, evaluate and adopt entrepreneur-developed innovations for the benefit of NHS patients.
Charlotte Williams, Chief Strategy and Improvement Officer at Mid and South Essex Foundation Trust, said:
The NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme is having impact across the country, supporting NHS staff to develop ideas and deliver change that will help the NHS meet the needs of the population now and in the future.
“I am proud of our long-standing partnership with Anglia Ruskin University and the Clinical Entrepreneur Programme is a fantastic example of the success that can be achieved when local partners work together.
