Hospital patient helps spread Christmas cheer by making decorations for her ward
A patient on Castle Point ward at Southend Hospital has made more than 30 Christmas decorations for the department.
Cindy Carter, from Rayleigh, has spent the last four weeks recovering from elective knee surgery and, after missing out on so many Christmas activities due to her stay, decided to spend her time making decorations which the team have happily added to their Christmas tree.
Cindy said: “I loved making the decorations, I sat at the ward clerk's desk for most of the day, colouring and laminating the pictures which we turned into decorations. I really enjoyed helping them get ready for Christmas.”
Lisa Maddin, Occupational Therapist Apprentice, said: “When the other patients saw what Cindy was doing, they all wanted to get involved. It’s lifted everyone’s spirits and put us all in the Christmas mood. We’re so happy with how the ward looks thanks to Cindy.”
