A mum who gave birth on her birthday has thanked maternity staff for their care at Broomfield Hospital.

Lila was born on Monday 7 March and weighed 6lbs 5oz. Her mum, Lauren Marku from Chelmsford, said: “It was amazing that Lila wanted to share her special day with mine, and it was the best birthday present I could ask for! It’s not every day you get to bring someone new into the world on your birthday.

“I can’t speak highly enough about the care I’ve received from the antenatal department at Broomfield, the staff were friendly, calm and attentive. They gave me the care and reassurance I needed every step of the way.”

The hospital, which is part of Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust, helped give Lauren the birthing experience she wanted. This was using hypnobirthing, which for some women can help reduce anxiety during birth.

Lauren said: “This is the third baby I’ve had at Broomfield and I always speak highly to others of the amazing care I receive each time. Staff were always on hand if we needed them.”

Mum and baby went home that same day and were welcomed with loving arms by husband Fredy Marku and Mason, seven, and Dilan, two.
