New and refurbished breast screening rooms are more welcoming and will help reduce waiting times
Extra and modernised breast screening rooms have opened in the breast units across Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust, offering a calmer and more welcoming environment for patients, and means they will be seen more quickly.
Six rooms have had a complete makeover – two at Southend, Basildon and Broomfield hospitals - all with new state-of-the-art equipment and there is one brand new additional breast screening room at Southend, with a further new room set to open to patients at Broomfield this winter.
These exciting improvements have happened over an 18-month period and renews and expands the entire suite of hospital-based mammography equipment in the breast screening rooms, helping provide patients the best care in the best facilities.
The refurbished and new rooms, which the Trust has invested over £2.3 million in, all benefit from new equipment which has advanced technology and improved comfort, with patients already making positive comments about the revamped and new spaces and environments.
Brian Green, Radiology General Manager at the Trust, said: "These improvements we’ve made to the radiology department will reduce waiting times and support the needs of our patients. Having state-of-the-art imaging technology allows us to see breast abnormalities clearer, which will help us in our diagnosis.”
