NHS 75 - Caring for patients is top priority for mum and daughter
Amanda Dixon is a Lead Midwife for the Labour Ward at Broomfield Hospital, she began her nurse training 36 years ago and she has been lucky enough to work alongside her daughter, Kira Price-Dixon, who is also a registered nurse and has worked within gynaecology and maternity and is now a Clinical Nurse Specialist with the Breast Care team.
Amanda said: “Although challenging, I still enjoy my role in helping to ensure safe and effective care for all women within our service and to support the staff as much as I can. We do have an amazing work family. I feel honoured that my daughter decided to have her career in healthcare and within our Trust. I am very proud of her.”
Kira said: “I’ve have worked in this role at Broomfield since April but have been working in the Trust for almost 10 years and it has been nice to be able to say that I’ve worked in the same building as my mum.
“My very first job at Broomfield was working as a domestic, I really enjoyed this job and it made me want to apply for nurse training so I could do more for patients. And that is the best part of my current job, being able to support patients through a really challenging time.”
