Sales ‘erupt’ for volcano book raising money for local hospitals

Alice Harding and her volcano book

A seven-year-old girl had a ‘blast’, writing a book about a friendly volcano, and has raised hundreds of pounds for charity.

The book, The Volcano That Couldn’t Erupt! by Alice Harding, from Rayleigh, has already raised over £440, with all proceeds going to help local hospitals.

People are showing a lot of ‘lava’ for the book, which is about a volcano that triumphs over adversity, thanks to the encouragement of its friends. Money from sales is being donated to Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust’s ‘For Wards’ appeal.

The appeal has supported some amazing projects such as the Apollo MRI Suite, lifesaving equipment for the neonatal intensive care unit and digital mobile x-ray technology.

Alice’s mum, Samantha, said: “Alice’s Aunty Kelly works at Southend Hospital, and that was part of the reason she decided to write and sell the book, to thank her and other colleagues across local hospitals for the wonderful work they have been doing during the pandemic. It’s been a lovely little project and she has enjoyed it so much.”

Alice’s book is available in both hard copy and eCopy versions by making a donation via her JustGiving page here and emailing her mum sam.harding79@yahoo.co.uk:
