Macmillan cancer information and support service

Having tests for cancer and going through treatment can be a stressful and overwhelming experience for patients and those close to them. Our cancer information and support services are located at each of our main hospital sites, and anybody affected by cancer can make contact. You can speak to a specialist cancer nurse or trained volunteer.

We can offer:

  • emotional support
  • help with relationship and family issues
  • practical help
  • healthy eating and exercise advice
  • complementary therapy
  • welfare benefits and employment support
  • we also work very closely with the clinical cancer teams.

Not sure where to start?

If you or somebody closet to you is going through cancer and you don't know where to turn, please give us a call. We offer all of the following services:

Relaxation and sleep groups — our therapists can support you with techniques in sleep and relaxation.

Look good, feel better — a supportive small group workshop providing skincare advice to help you face cancer with confidence.

Menopause support — our nurse specialist can offer support for those struggling with menopausal symptoms due to cancer treatment.

Nutrition — our nutritionists can work with you to improve your diet, wellbeing a lifestyle.

Cancers support group — are you caring for someone? If so, come along to our group session for some support with you wellbeing.

Elevenses support group — Come for informal coffee and a chat on Tuesdays at 11am.

Financial worries — we can refer to a benefits advisor to discuss any financial concerns.

Seated yoga — our non-strenuous yoga sessions offering light stretching and relaxation techniques.

Coping with hair loss — we can off support and guidance during this time.

Located in the outpatient’s department and available Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm for you to browse our information leaflets

Broomfield Hospital

Normally located in the atrium; unfortunately, the info pod is temporarily closed.
