Neuro-oncology cancer
The neuro-oncology team support, care and treat adult patients diagnosed with primary brain and central nervous system tumours.
Primary brain and central nervous system tumours are rare, accounting for less than 3% of all adult cancers. Brain tumours can be benign or malignant and occur when a collection of brain cells become abnormal in growth and/or grow out of control. These cells then form a tumour or mass.
In the UK more than 12,000 adults are diagnosed with a brain tumour each year, of which half are cancerous.
